A Message from Our School

Dear Families, Staff, and Community Members,

It is with excitement that we are writing to you regarding the future of Father Marquette Catholic Academy. Over the past years, there have been many positive changes in our school. A firm foundation is being established from which we can build into the future. Our leadership team has been hard at work defining the path of our school. Maintaining a successful school and business in modern times can be difficult, but we are up to the challenge.

With the support of the bishop, superintendent, principal, advisory council, and priests our elementary and middle school campuses will be consolidated to the current elementary school campus at 500 South Fourth Street in Marquette. We anticipate all teaching staff will be returning for the 2018-2019 school year. This move will improve accessibility to our many assets and make it easier for everyone to collaborate. It will also improve efficiencies and allow us to procure resources for all teachers and students to utilize.

Academics are the cornerstone of a school and will remain a primary focus. The classical curriculum will continue to be rolled out and refined. To foster collaboration and further develop academics, teachers will be leading curriculum committees under the guidance of the principal. These committees will also involve parents and experts in the community. This improvement will allow us to continue to refine the curriculum and maintain our status as a regional leader in academic excellence.

A feasibility study has been initiated, with the support of the bishop, to investigate the potential for expanding the unified campus. We are also considering working with other Diocesan schools to establish a satellite Catholic high school at the former middle school location. This would be in close proximity to NMU, where students could take college courses as part of their high school education. As we look to the future, there is also the possibility of establishing a Catholic college in Marquette.

It is with excitement and anticipation that our leadership team and school community look forward to a bright future, continuing to provide superior education in the Marquette area and beyond. We invite you to join us on Thursday, May 10 or again on Thursday, May 17, each at 6:30 p.m. in the elementary school gym, to hear more details regarding the building unification, curriculum, and future opportunities for expansion. The growth of our school will require cooperation and a strong community spirit. We challenge everyone in the school family to add your special talents to this group effort. Great things are on the horizon! Please continue to pray for the guidance of the Holy Spirit as we move boldly forward.

With faith in our future,

FMCA Pastors, Administration, Teachers, Advisory Council, and Parent Connection
